At Stratum Marquetry, we see potential where others see waste. Every year, businesses across Cornwall discard perfectly usable sheet materials—plywood, MDF, plastics, hardwoods, and more—that are considered waste simply because of size or form. These often end up in landfill or costly recycling streams.
Our Waste Material Rescue Service offers a simple alternative: we collect those offcuts and transform them into high-end Modern Marquetry products, while also using them in creative community workshops. It’s a partnership that benefits your business, the planet, and local people.
How the Service Works
Become a Waste Partner — Sign up with us through a simple Memorandum of Understanding.
Save Your Offcuts — Keep surplus materials clean and reusable.
Collection or Drop-Off — We’ll collect from your site, or you can deliver directly to our workshop.
Fair Value for Waste — Instead of paying disposal fees, you receive a fair price based on material type and condition.
A New Life for Materials — We craft them into luxury surfaces and artworks, or use them in free workshops for the community.
Welcome to Our Newest Waste Partner: Bear Joinery
We’re proud to announce that Bear Joinery has just joined our growing network of Waste Partners. Their first contribution included a large donation of Durat (a sustainable solid surface material made with recycled plastics) and a collection of hardwood offcuts.
For us, these materials are gold dust. The Durat is ideal for durable, patterned marquetry surfaces, while the hardwood offcuts slot seamlessly into our modern marquetry artworks and bespoke furniture. Instead of being discarded, they’ll now become statement pieces with lasting value.
