Introduction

We supply manufacturers and established makers — material and pattern, built into your own branded, repeatable range. Years spent refining our process and investing in the right tooling mean production is faster and more consistent than you'd expect from a material this distinctive. Our Signature patterns are engineered around materials we know we can source at scale, and our Waste Material Rescue Service means we hold real stock, not just samples. You bring the expertise and the market. We bring something none of your competitors can offer.

Philosophy

  • We use only reclaimed off‑cuts and recycled materials—no new timber ever enters our process. This zero‑waste ethos underpins every Signature pattern.

  • We celebrate the character of reclaimed material — the unexpected colours, tones and textures that give each surface its individuality. By transforming materials that might otherwise be discarded, we create something new, considered and full of visual character.

  • Instead of going by wood species, we offer variety through timber tone — light, mid or dark. This supports our ‘Material Led Design’ philosophy and helps ensure we have the tone you request in stock.

How it's made

  • 1. Material sourcing

    We rescue reclaimed and recycled materials from UK businesses and organisations through our Waste Material Rescue Service. This solves a genuine waste problem for them while securing the material stock we need for production.

  • 2. Processing & storage

    Materials are processed and organised in our workshop. Timber is stored by tone (not species), and plastics are sorted by colour. This system lets us build consistent patterns and manage our inventory at scale.

  • 3. Building marquetry blocks

    Each signature pattern can be customised in wood tones and plastic colours, so we build dedicated blocks for each variation. For bespoke commissions, we design and build custom blocks from scratch to bring your unique pattern to life.

  • 4. Cutting staves

    Slices (staves) are cut from each block—typically at 3mm thick. This substantial thickness creates a generous wear layer that makes our material far more durable than traditional veneers. It resists wear and aging, performing reliably through years of use.

  • 5. Final products

    Staves are then used to create finished tiles, slats, and boards. We also supply raw staves, ideal for makers and manufacturers to incorporate into their own products. For larger visions, we can scale the process to build complete full interior schemes & projects.

  • Inspiration: This pattern’s ambition was simply to embody the greatest variety of waste  materials into one pattern as we possibly could.

  • Inspiration: Built for the Surface Design show, this became one of our inspirational hexagons, and was later used as a removable upper surface in a two tier circular coffee table. This pattern involved a great number of stages in production, reflected in its complexity.

  • Inspiration: Built for the interior project Laminated Birch Plywood Kitchen, the clients gave their input at various stages of the patterns production, requesting further addition  of certain elements. It made up the entire surface of a bespoke dining table, sat subtly behind drawer and door pulls and ran through the faces of end panels as intersecting stripes. Successful consultation resulted in happy clients, confident centre pieces and beautiful accents.

  • Inspiration: Another surface produced using our own waste from the production of marquetry. In this instance we have worked with arbitrary shapes we have cut from stave waste, scribing them to fit neatly next to one another. The range of textures, materials and patterns throughout all the components is broad, producing a colourful composition.

  • Inspiration: Using small volumes of timber and plastics from our stores, we produced this pattern. The aim was to work intentionally outside of symmetry, producing a pattern with a distinct ‘front and back’ face.

  • Inspiration: We had salvaged a batch of primary coloured acrylic waste from a laser cutting process. Combining these with Larch and shuttering ply, we created a pattern setting the plastics bold colours, against the appearance of the larches end grain.

  • Inspiration: This pattern was built to customise a bench seat. We cut a series of hexagons from the staves produced by the marquetry block, setting them into the face of the table for the client, a cascade and overlap of pattern. Here you the pattern of a single stave.

  • Inspiration: This was an experimental piece - the pattern results from machining a variety of cut depths, and cut angles across the face of the marquetry block. A consequence of this is a slight translucency that comes through in the plastic elements - a quality we have introduced to later projects.

  • Inspiration: This development piece looks at creating standalone layered components, machined to precise dimensions, and then set into corresponding voids in the face of Plywood sheets. The idea was to achieve a pleasing distribution of form and colour by repeating machining processes.

  • Inspiration: Produced as a development project for the Surface Design show, and later used in a interior projects

  • Inspiration: To make a very one off, detailed and fragmented surface. This would be built using small amounts of timber and acrylic. The pattern's dynamism is the result of multiple machining processes, without the marquetry block suffering a mechanical failure when harvesting staves. This required precise cutting and bonding. Translucent acrylic creates pockets of depth, revealing materials below the surface.

  • Inspiration: Initially produced as a centre piece to our place at Future Icons, using a work top discarded in Falmouth, saved from the roadside, and off cuts of linoleum from a domestic project. Working with the Lino’s cross section introduces flecks of pastel colours, contrasting the worktops short stave finger jointed construction. A simple and distinctive arrangement of materials.

  • Inspiration: Another pattern that made use of short lengths of joinery timber stock. Colourful components run the length of a piece. The staves are harvested to reveal the timbers engrain.

  • Inspiration: We built this pattern for the bespoke Nation Trust Green kitchen, Shortlanesend, Cornwall. Built using many materials to complement the kitchen's colour scheme, it has been inserted as a complex and busy stripe to various elements of the project as a whole.

  • Inspiration: Using small volumes of material derived from an internal fire door, we have cut  incursions and added materials. The pattern's complexity is owed to the pre - existing pattern embodied within the fire door - something to take advantage of, and the multiple machining processes.

  • Inspiration: Modern Marquetry doors, made from the museum’s old signage, flooring, wooden posts and even some of the old dismantled Victorian museum cases!

  • Inspiration: This was the first attempt at producing a pattern weighted heavily towards multi material, aiming at a complex arrangement of materials.

  • Inspiration: Produced during a public workshop, the attendee selected the materials in this pattern from our timber stocks. Supported through the machining process, they produced their own marquetry block, applying it to a stool top.

  • Inspiration: Here we have attempted to create a pattern with high contrast, using the width rather than length of a board. Endgrain Iroko salvaged from a discarded piece of institutional garden furniture has been combined with waste acrylic produced through Laser Cutting processes.

  • Inspiration: This pattern was built as a development piece aimed at making bold intersections into Birch Plywood sheets, at roughly 60 degree angles. We showed this at the Surface Design show as an example of the  possibilities of patterns available.

  • Inspiration: Experimenting with primary colours, linear language, and materials from our own scrap stores - this constitutes a development piece. Use of translucent acrylic creates pockets of depth over the surface, revealing the otherwise hidden face of the Birch Plywood.

  • Inspiration: We created a marquetry block using Re - Saw off cuts from timber stock and shuttering ply. After bonding these components together, we introduced waste plastic from the machining processes of other businesses. This pattern is a development piece, and was shown at the Surface Design Show.

  • Inspiration: In collaboration with the designer, Michelle Lowe Holder, we produced a pattern with which we prototyped some jewellery and footwear for the sustainable Angle show.

  • Inspiration: Here we have attempted to create a subtle but complex pattern. A limited pallet of materials have been reoriented within the face of Birch Plywood at a 60 degree angle. This creates an interruption to the linear quality of a sheets edge.

  • Inspiration: This makes use of acrylic strips and left over from a machining process, plywood and other timbers we have gathered. Using the kerf of a sawblade with care, we create voids that have been filled with other materials. The small volume of materials available at the time dictated that this surface became a stand alone wall decoration.

  • Inspiration: We produced this pattern to describe the fronts of doors and drawers in an interior project. Using lengths of joinery waste, colourful components were set into the face of timber boards.

  • Inspiration: Exhibited at the Surface Design show. This reflects the beginning of our waste partnership with One Blue Eye. They provided us with plastic derived from beach cleans, in a format that we could machine and incorporate within a surface.

  • Inspiration: Produced for a bespoke interior project, we manufactured handles for a kitchen in Perranaworthal. The client knew our work first hand, and simply specified the materials they wanted us to incorporate, happy to leave the pattern arrangement up to us. The distribution of the pattern’s components took into account the face area of a handle pull, in order that its appearance gave the necessary impact.

  • Inspiration: Using shuttering ply from a project's off cuts, this pattern makes the most of this particular plywood's material variance. Introducing plastic from beach cleans produces colourful instances with a waxy texture - a result of the plastics reforming.
